Personalize Boring Tasks by Finding Your Motivation Style

It is difficult to find the motivation to do certain tasks. Find out what your motivation style is to enjoy and excel at your work!

1. The Collaborator: Your motivation is highest when you are working with people. Driven by those around you, support and acceptance from others will be where you are most productive. Fostering an environment like this will help you stay motivated.

2. The Director: When you are in charge of work you have to do, you feel most motivated. You love challenges and are more enthusiastic to do a task when presented with competition. When results are tangible you feel most accomplished. Create an environment where you can take charge and set challenging goals for the best results.

3. The Stabilizer: You love when your environment is constant—you do not like surprises. You work well when you know the plan of action and prefer to have deep knowledge of expertise before beginning a project. Make sure to get clarity on the task at hand, and don’t be afraid to ask for help!

4. The Innovator: When you have the freedom to express your creativity, you are the most motivated. You like to take creative control, make short goals, and work with cutting-edge technology. Find a way to add creativity to tasks you find boring to both enjoy and feel motivated to keep going. You may be more than one of these motivation styles, which makes things interesting. Combine two or more of these styles to design the way you want your work to be!
